About Is Baby Coming?

Who makes this, how the numbers are produced, and how the site is funded

Last updated

Is Baby Coming? is an independent website with one job: turning a due date into honest odds. It is not affiliated with the NHS, the CDC, or any hospital or manufacturer, and nothing on it is medical advice.

What the calculator does

The calculator estimates the probability that spontaneous labour starts on each day and in each week, given that you are still pregnant today. It uses a Johnson SU distribution fitted to NHS Maternity Statistics 2023-24 and CDC natality data for 2023, and shifts the curve by a few days for factors with published evidence: parity, BMI, maternal age, the baby's sex, twins or triplets, and the gap since a previous birth. The methodology page documents the model, its calibration targets and its limits.

How content is written and checked

  • Every statistic links to its source: official statistics, clinical guidelines or peer-reviewed studies.
  • Research summaries say who was studied, what changed, and how strong the evidence is.
  • Pages show a visible last-updated date and are revised when the underlying data or guidance changes.
  • No content on this site is written or reviewed by a clinician. Treat it as background for a conversation with your midwife or doctor, not a substitute for one.

How products are chosen

Product pages list items whose category has a study, a clinical guideline or a clear clinical rationale behind it. The research covers the food or the technique, never a brand; brands are editorial choices checked for product identity, pack size and practical features. We do not publish prices, star ratings or review counts.

How the site is funded

Some product links are affiliate links through Amazon Associates (US and UK) and Awin. If you buy through one, the site earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked where they appear, and affiliate income has no influence on the calculator or on which research is summarised.

Privacy

Your due date and settings are kept in your own browser so you can return to your dashboard. The site uses cookieless, privacy-focused analytics (Umami and GoatCounter) to count visits and anonymous interactions.
